Arterial Endovascular Interventions in South Florida

Angioplasty and Stenting

Angioplasty and Vascular Stenting Procedure

At PomVascular, we offer this procedure so we can improve blood flow when there is narrowing in the body’s arteries or veins.

Angioplasty is a procedure during which a balloon-tipped catheter is used to open a narrowed or blocked blood vessel. Imaging guidance is used to position the catheter across the area of narrowing or blockage within the blood vessel and the balloon is inflated to open the narrowing and improve blood flow. It may be done with vascular stenting, which is the placement of a small wire mesh tube within the blood vessel to help keep it open.

Angioplasty and Vascular Stenting has a number of advantages over traditional surgery:

  • Minimally invasive
  • Uses local anesthesia only
  • Takes place in our office
  • Involves minimal downtime of approximately one day.

Atherectomy

What is an atherectomy for atherosclerosis/PAD/PVD?

At PomVascular, we offer endovenous laser therapy for the treatment The goal of treatment is to eliminate the build-up of plaque in your arteries.

An atherectomy is a procedure that utilizes a catheter with a sharp blade on the end to remove plaque from a blood vessel. The catheter is inserted into the artery through a small puncture in the artery, and it is performed under local anesthesia. The catheter is designed to collect the removed plaque in a chamber in the tip, which allows removal of the plaque as the device is removed from the artery. The process can be repeated at the time the treatment is performed to remove a significant amount of disease from the artery, thus eliminating a blockage from atherosclerotic disease.

PAD: Atherectomy therapy has a number of advantages over traditional surgery:

  • Minimally invasive
  • Uses local anesthesia only
  • Takes place in our office
  • Involves minimal downtime of approximately one day.

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)

Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)

At PomVascular, we offer endovascular ultrasound or intravascular echocardiography, as an imaging technique that uses a transducer or probe to generate sound waves and produce pictures of the insides of blood vessels.

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) uses a transducer or probe to generate sound waves and produce pictures of blood vessels. When used to evaluate the coronary arteries, IVUS can show the entire artery wall and provide important information about the buildup of plaque, which can help determine if you are at risk for heart attack. Ultrasound does not use ionizing radiation, has no known harmful effects, and provides a clear picture of soft tissues that don’t show up well on x-ray images.

IVUS is most often used to visualize the coronary arteries in conjunction with or to help plan for catheter angiography or angioplasty and vascular stenting.

Intravascular Ultrasound has a number of advantages over traditional surgery:

  • Minimally invasive
  • Uses local anesthesia only
  • Takes place in our office
  • Involves minimal downtime of approximately one day.

Dialysis Fistula / Graft Interventions

Heal the saphenous veins with laser therapy.

At PomVascular, we offer people who develop advanced-stage kidney disease often need dialysis, in which a machine performs a basic function of the kidney: the cleansing blood of impurities. Before a patient begins dialysis treatments, a minor surgical procedure called arteriovenous (AV) fistula might be recommended.

During the procedure, you will be placed under anesthesia, though the outpatient surgery does not require an overnight hospital stay. The purpose of the surgery is to connect a large vein in the arm or leg to a nearby artery. The procedure diverts a portion – some, not all – of the venous blood through the artery.

Arteriovenous (AV) Fistulas for Dialysis Access has a number of advantages over traditional surgery:

  • Minimally invasive
  • Uses local anesthesia only
  • Takes place in our office
  • Involves minimal downtime of approximately one day.

Embolizations

Control or prevent abnormal bleeding with Catheter Embolization.

At PomVascular, we offer endovenous laser therapy for the treatment that blocks one or more blood vessels or abnormal vascular channels.

In a catheter embolization procedure, medications or synthetic materials called embolic agents are placed through a catheter into a blood vessel to prevent blood flow to the area.

Catheter embolization places medications or synthetic materials called embolic agents through a catheter into a blood vessel to block blood flow to an area of the body. It may be used to control or prevent abnormal bleeding, close off vessels supplying blood to a tumor, eliminate abnormal connections between arteries and veins, or to treat aneurysms. Embolization is a highly effective way to control bleeding and is much less invasive than open surgery.

Catheter embolization has a number of advantages over traditional surgery:

  • Minimally invasive
  • Uses local anesthesia only
  • Takes place in our office
  • Involves minimal downtime of approximately one day.
